Wrong plastic for this design

I purchased this cover after thoroughly reading all the reviews, and I really liked this cover as a more affordable alternative to the Kindle brand hard cover--I liked the color and texture of the leather, it is very slim and not bulky, and the weight and feel of it with my Kindle Paperwhite inside was just right.
As reported by one other reviewer, when I received my cover I also found a tiny bit of dried adhesive stuck to the front of the snap closure tab, but I just used a little bit of Goo Gone on a cotton swab, which removed it just fine and did not harm the leather finish.
I also found the magnet of the tab closure to be not that strong, but since the Kindle fits so tightly in the cover, the closure is more decorative than anything else (and I suspect they may hesitate to use a super-strong magnet, which could possibly have adverse effects on the electronics of the Kindle).
There was just one really serious drawback to this cover: the moment I snapped my Kindle into the cover, stress cracks appeared in the top corners of the interior plastic. Maybe these cracks would never have developed into an actual breakage, as reported by one other reviewer (though cracks do tend to propagate over time, so it seems likely that eventually they would have) but it didn't give me a good feeling, and I know I would have been looking at them and worrying about it all the time, so I decided to send the cover back (though removing my Kindle from it was a challenge).
Because I preferred to have the hard cover style versus a folio style cover, I went ahead and paid the astronomical price of $40 for the Kindle brand cover, and now I see what the main difference is between the Kindle and August covers: the August cover uses a harder, more brittle type of plastic, and the Kindle cover uses a rubberized, more flexible type of plastic, which is more forgiving of the stress of snapping the Kindle into it.
It is unfortunate because I liked the August cover in every other way, and would have kept it if not for this design flaw (which is probably part of the reason it is so much cheaper than the Kindle brand cover.)
August makes some very nice looking and reasonably priced leather folio style covers (these are generally more padded, and the Kindle slides into a sort of pocket to hold it inside the cover), and if I had been really unable or unwilling to pay $40 for the Kindle brand hard cover, I probably would have purchased one of those instead.

One of my Favorite Purchases

This case and brand are super high quality. I've gotten nothing but praise from friends and passers by who always want to know more about it.
The case itself is slimmer than the Amazon brand one and has a chic leather look and feel. It doesn't look like a Kindle at all when it's closed which is a nice theft deterrent as well.
My favorite feature is the magnetic snap that is also able to keep the cover locked to the rear of the Kindle when it's open.
I want August Lion to make items for other products too, I'm so happy with this I'd kill for more accessories for additional electronics.

Very classy look and feel. (I don't understand the anther reviewer's remark that it seems like vinyl. It's the official Amazon "leather" cases that look and feel like plastic to me.) The black or "coffee" covers might look even better, but I figured this brown one would be easier to spot in my backpack.
I like the clip-in corners, that protect and hold the reader firmly without adding any bulk. (The reader in the case is only 3/4" thick.)
The magnet holding the tab closure should be a bit stronger.
