SETUP INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Insert two AAA batteries (not included)
2. Turn on keyboard, on/off switch located on the back of the keyboard
3. Press the connect button next to on/off switch to pair with your device
4. Blue LED light will flash to indicate pairing mode has been activated
5. Go to Bluetooth settings of your device and select KC1280 BT Keyboard from the list of available devices
6. Complete pairing by using Bluetooth keyboard to type in the 4 digit numerical code prompted on your screen then press enter

Compact design; excellent key feel; hinge could be better

Overall, this is a pretty good compact bluetooth keyboard. I’m impressed with the key feel – it has a slight click to it, avoiding the “mush” feel that small keyboards often have. The throw is short, but enough so that you know by feel if the key press has been registered. No complaints about the key action at all.
The layout is, for the most part, also well done. It’s the usual QWERTY layout with a number of keys serving dual function (such as the top row which can be used for numbers/special characters or F-functions, with the latter enabled by pressing the Function key). I’m not all that enthused about the split space bar and the fact that there are no dedicated page up/page down keys (it’s dual function with the cursor control keys) but that’s an unavoidable issue in a compact keyboard.
The key markings are clear and easily read. There’s an on/off slider switch, and indicators for caps lock, low battery and connection. When folded, the keyboard is held shut with a magnet, which is a big plus – no risk of having the keyboard flop open when you are carrying it, and no need to deal with any type of latch or lock.
The build quality is decent for the price, with the frame having, for the most part, a solid feel. The exception is the center hinge, which could use a more robust design to avoid the keyboard being folded backwards. There are holder plates that snap out of the frame (tip: pop them out with a flat screwdriver unless you want to run the risk of losing a fingernail. They are hard to pop out!) that help strengthen the structure, but I’d prefer a more robust center hinge design.
It has an internal battery, which for me is a better design than using removable batteries. It comes with a cable for charging along with a carry pouch. The pouch is rather large compared with the size of the keyboard, but workable.
The hinge design knocks this down to 4.5 stars, but I’ll round up to 5 since I find the keyboard feel to be just perfect for me. Well worth considering if you need a compact keyboard to take along on the road.

One of the best BT keyboards I have used

I received this as a review sample and it exceeded my expectations in every way. What I most love is the size and feel. The width of the typing area is exactly the same size that the keyboard on my ThinkPad T61 laptop, and the height would be the same had this one not incorporated the function keys into the number and special character row across the top. The feel is just as nice as on my laptop as well. Some bluetooth keyboards that I have tested and use have a rubbery feel. This one has real tactile feedback from the keys and is a pleasure to type on.
The open and folded dimensions and other important specs are already included in the product description so I will not repeat them here. I will say that the bluetooth pairing button makes using this keyboard out of the box a snap. The older generation of bluetooth keyboards had clumsy pairing procedures, but the dedicated button on this one is literally press, scan from your device and pair/connect. That alone sets this one apart from the pack.
Other features I like are the magnet that holds the unit closed when it's folded and the sturdy way the charging port is incorporated into the design. A nice touch is the carrying bag, and there are even brackets snapped into the bottom that can be removed and configured as a stand for tablets and phones. I will probably not use that feature, but it's clever how it was included in the design.
Bottom line: this is a first rate keyboard that feels as good under my fingers as the one on my laptop. It has ample typing space and is an ideal companion for my Samsung Tab 3 and iPad 2 tablets.
