Very functional and nice looking cover

When I bought my Kindle Paperwhite I also bought a padded leather cover which was very nice but was a bit too thick for my taste when folded back for reading and it also didn't have the magnet in it that would automatically turn the Kindle on and off when opened or closed. This August Lion cover was perfect for me. The leather cover is not padded, it's sewn onto the interior of the cover. The interior of the front cover is a very nice soft felt-like material. The back cover is hard plastic for additional protection with the leather set into it nicely so the leather covers all but the outer edge of the plastic back. The Kindle then snaps into place into the back cover which holds it firmly in place - no cords needed to hold the Kindle in place - nice! The cover also contains a magnet that acts to turn the Kindle on when you open it and turn it off when you close it (note that if you have the Paperwhite with the ads it takes you to the ad page which you need to swipe to get to the book you were reading last, but if you have the one without the ads it takes you right to the page you left off on). The hinge between the front and back cover is a single wide piece of leather, letting the cover fold back easily for reading and flat against the back. The closure tab on the cover is also magnetic and strong enough to do the job. Add in the fact that the price was marked down to about half of what other leather covers were selling for and I consider it one of the best deals I've gotten on Amazon.

Perfect for cover phobes.

I don;t like any prior Kindle cover. I prefer a simple silicone sleeve. If you are like me, you are concerned about the fussiness and bulk of a cover.
This cover is ideal. It is small and compact and tight--no flappiness-- and the magnetiz closure folds securely out of the way when not in use. Pus I can lay in bed and prop the Paperwhite open on it's side using the cover as an easel for reading while I lay on my pillow.
It's well made and no "plaY" of the device in it.
For cover shunners, like me, this particular Paperwhite cover is a winner.

Great Case for Under $20

The August case I am reviewing is a rich Coffee/Dark Brown color, item number: AUG-KD-PPW-HARD-COFFEE.
This case is amazing, the back is form-fitted out of plastic to fit the Kindle Paperwhite perfectly.
The sleep to wake feature works just like the Amazon case, when you close the cover it goes to sleep. Open it, and it's awake!
The small clasp has a magnet in it so when you close the cover it stays closed. (The magnet could be a little stronger).
The leather looks thin, but good quality with a nice grain and the stitching is solid.
The inside is smooth so it wont scratch the screen or the bezel.
At $15~20 depending on the color, I think this case is is great deal.
