A very high quality full-featured case

When I bought the new Kindle Fire HDX 7", I didn't immediately buy a case for it. The few cases that were on the market were so expensive that I decided to wait awhile. When I saw the Poetic case on sale at an introductory price of 95¢ with free shipping, I jumped on it. I figured if it was a piece of junk, I had wasted a dollar, no big deal. Now that my HDX is in the case, I'm very glad that I waited a few days. It's an excellent case with some features that I never expected to see in such an inexpensive case.
The case is made of a nice-looking faux leather material (polyurethane) with a soft microfiber lining inside the front cover to protect the HDX's screen. The openings in the case perfectly match the tablet's speakers, ports, and controls. Most importantly to me, the HDX snaps into a plastic frame that holds it very securely. (If you have the Amazon case for the Kindle Paperwhite, it's the same kind of system.) One of the features I like the most is the magnetic lock/autowake function. It serves double duty - the magnet ensures that the cover doesn't flop open, and it wakes the tablet from sleep mode when you open it. The articulated front cover allows propping up the HDX in two positions in landscape mode - about 20 degrees from horizontal, and about 75 degrees from horizontal. I weighed the case on our postage scale, and it was just over four ounces. Added to the HDX's 10.7 ounces, the tablet and case together are less than a pound.
Those are my impressions of the Poetic Slimline Case. I reviewed a lot of cases for the original Kindle Fire and the Kindle Fire HD, and I have a good idea about what makes a case stand out from the rest. An absolutely perfect case for my new Kindle Fire HDX!!!

What an absolute steal at $4.95 (+s/h)!!! Now the price (as expected) has gone up to $12.95. But this is still a phenomenal deal at this price. This case is exactly like the one I bought at Best Buy for my wife's ipad for $40.
If you just got your new Kindle Fire HDX and are stumbling around as I did looking for a good case other than the way overpriced Amazon origami case, look no further than this Poetic case. You will not be disappointed. Great quality, the stand works very well, and the sleep/wake function when closing and opening the case works exactly as described.

I love this case so much I am sending the Origami Case back!

I bought two cases this one as a back up for $3 + free shipping and I bought the Official Origami case in purple. I found the other case to be too heavy and awkward to hold while reading. It really is just a very expensive stand for me. I'm a woman with woman size hands so with the HDX being so thin and wide I need something I can grip while reading. I find the Poetic case much nicer to hold and it weighs very little unlike the other case which is a plus.
It was easy to install the HDX into the case and after a little fiddling I figured out how to use the horizontal stand to it. It works well. The only issue when using it as a stand is the soft grey part is exposed to the surface it's on so use a clean cloth underneath so it doesn't get dirty. The auto sleep on/off function works great and for the price I am thinking about buying another one for a backup. See all 1335 customer reviews...
